GRAND CANYON DAY 4

On Day 4 we returned to the south rim and did the drive east to the east entrance. The above photo is the  glass floor walkway that is 4000 feet above the canyon floor.  This was taken from the raft, sorry it is blurred.  Because of the heat (116*) and the high wind our helicopter ride up to the walkway was cancelled  and it is about a 4 hour drive to get to it so we never got to see it.
 The most impressive thing about the Grand Canyon is the size,  many of the rock formations we have seem in other areas of the country.


The other side of the canyon here is about 8 miles away and the floor is 4500 feet down, that's why Diane is  holding on tight.
Way down at the bottom of the canyon is part of the rapids we rafted through yesterday.  You can see the river for quite a ways from here.

At the east entrance is a old stone viewing tower build  many years ago, this is the view from the top of that tower.
