They do have big mosquitos here

The US side of the highway was very poor, it was just dirt and narrow and it had been raining so not a enjoyable drive, except when you look out and see this view.

The town of Chicken AK. The first miners here found a lot of ptarigam birds and like me they did not know how to spell it correctly, so they said, well looks like a chicken, taste like a chicken, so they called the place Chicken. What you see is the original town. One building three buisnesses the place is falling apart. Their claim to fame is 6000+ hats in the bar. I thought of leaving my Carleton Place hat, but only for about 2 seconds. There is a new building on the highway, but just a tourist trap. We were glad to leave the place behind.

One of the many rivers in the area.

This is a gold panning operation. There are hundreds of people panning for gold along the rivers and creeks. This one is a little more serious, he has a generator and a pump tied to a sluice box
where he can pump the gravel in and the water run through, and pushes the stone around, the gold being heavier than stone falls to the bottom.
