The Ice House is at Chena hot springs about 50 miles north east of Fairbanks, It was built in 2004 and wascnot insulated properly so melted. It was rebuilt in 2006 and is still intact today. It is conpletely built of ice taken from a nearby river. It has dozens of ice scuptures inside from little figurerines to duelling knights on horseback.

The Polar bear bed. People come here and spend $600. a night to sleep in the ice house. It is Twenty degrees, ice is as hard as,....well frozen water and they get a caribou blanket and sleeping bag. We passed on that offer. We did go to the hot springs at 104 F then to the ice house and then back to the hot springs.

Diane trying out the four poster ice bed

The ice fire place, those are stools in front with caribou hide on the seats.
Not much heat coming from the fire.

The duelling knights, it took 600 hours to make this, they use everything from chains saws to sandpaper. They have ice carving classes and annual ice carving competition
