#31 DAWSON CITY

In 1896 gold was found on Bonnaza creek, a small tributary of the Yukon River, within 4 years the was a city of 30,000 people. Today Dawson is home to 2,000 with a summer visitor count of over 60,000. The city has rebuild and remodelled many of the buildings today and many are still in use. The ground is permafrost and all buildings and sidewalks are wood. Some have pretty maidens resting on them.

Some have not yet been restored, but are in good condition for being near a hundred years old.

Others are not so good. This one needs some work.

This is the original post office build by federal gov't in early 1900's is no longer used as PO but still has all the post boxes and wickets.

The grand theatre, still in use today. Proves that cold is a good preserative.
