Fairbanks is a small city with a big past, gold was found close by and the town developed to serve the miners, There is a real nice University here, and we spent the better part of a day in the museum and watching films about Alaska, the land and the people. The are several active gold mines nearby and we visited this one.
That is a large gold nugget in my hand worth $60,000, with gold now over $1700 it is closer to $70,000. Sadly they would not let me keep it.
Th e university has a musk ox farm, they are big and ugly.
